Siberian Tiger Facts
Siberian tigers are the largest and biggest of all the five types of tigers present today. They grow up to 12 feet tall when they are standing on two legs and their height on all fours is about 3 1/2 feet. The male Siberian tigers can weigh as much as 850 pounds, and the females weigh a little less than that. The Siberian tigers are used to extremely cold weather and they live in the coldest parts of the region.
There are only 300 of these tigers left in the world among which most of them live in Russia. China and Korea almost has none of them left in their countries. The Siberian tiger does not survive under captivity unlike other tiger species. Also, it is likely to survive only when the weather conditions are ideally suited for it.
The white Siberian tigers have dark brown or chocolate colored stripes all over its body. It is one of the most beautiful animals of the species. The regular Siberian tiger has a very pale orange skin with black stripes. The Siberian tiger eats nearly 200 pounds of meat everyday and it hunts small animals like deer, birds, wild boar, water buffalo and elk.
The Siberian tiger produces about two to three cubs every litter. They start reproducing after they are three years old. The Siberian tigers need large territories and their habitat depends on their food. They have huge appetites because food is scarce for them in Siberia. Also, they do not run very fast after the prey for longer periods of time and so they eat large quantities when they are able to hunt.
