Why Does Hamster Make Squeeking Noise ?

Hamsters make wonderful pets if you know how to take care of them. Typically a hamster lives for around 2 to 3 years. So you should make sure that you provide a healthy and safe environment for your hamster to lead a wonderful life. This means knowing how a hamster behaves in a certain way, besides knowing what to feed it. Many times a hamster will make a squeaking noise and people wonder why they are doing it.


So, why does a hamster make a squeaking noise? It has been seen that a hamster tends to squeak when it is afraid or in pain. Usually this squeaking noise cannot be heard by human ears as the frequency of the sound is quite high. But many times you can hear it. So, get used to the sound if you have a pet hamster. Make sure that when you are handling your hamster, you handle it with care. Also, do not handle it immediately after your purchase it. Let the hamster get used to you. This process can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 weeks.

Hamsters tend to frightened easily. This is a natural adaptation they have as in the wild they are preyed upon by numerous animals and birds. Also, baby hamsters tend to squeak a lot. This is a mode of communication among the hamsters as they are born blind. However, if your pet is squeaking for no reason whatsoever, then it is best to take it to a vet. It may be in pain or ill.

Another sound that you should get used to with a hamster is the clattering of teeth. Usually a hamster makes this noise when it is distressed or unsettled. This sound is seen when a new hamster is introduced into a cage of another hamster.
