If your hamster is getting pregnant for the first time, keep a close eye on the mother and also refrain from handling the babies too much. Sometimes, when the mother is unable to recognize the scent of her babies, a hamster may resort to cannibalism.

Although hamsters do not fall ill that often, you should ensure that you take proper care of them. They should be kept in a clean cage and provided fresh food and drinking water on a daily basis. This will make sure that your hamster does not die due to health-related problems.
