Care For Goldfish Eggs

It is very easy to notice a male goldfish during the breeding season. The male grows white colored breeding tubercles whose size is that of a pin head. The female gold fish cannot be identified so easily. You may detect a female goldfish by seeing its full abdomen. The male goldfish does the spawning chase during breeding. The male swims as close to the female as possible hitting her repeatedly in her abdomen.

Female goldfish is able to lay at least five hundred to one thousand eggs in their peak time. The male scatters milt on the eggs and, thus, they are fertilized immediately. Goldfish releases eggs only in batches. Once the eggs are released, they should be immediately transferred to an aquarium. The water in this new aquarium should have the same temperature. It is very important to rinse the eggs with water having the same temperature as that of the previous tank. It is simpler to transfer the eggs immediately because the eggs are already fertilized. The ideal temperature for breeding is twenty degree Celsius.

You can easily identify a fertile and an unfertile egg. A fertile egg appears very clear whereas the unfertile ones look fuzzy. The fertile as well the unfertile eggs are prone to fungal attack very often. Therefore, it is essential to keep a close watch on these eggs. Another important aspect is that the water level must be around 6 inches deep because after the eggs are attached the fish fry are unable to withstand water pressure more than this.
