How To Make A Catfish Trap ?

You can catch the catfish with various types of traps. The best traps are those made up of a wire mesh. These kind of traps are not very costly and can be easily be made rather quickly. If you have enough time and very keen on trapping several catfish together make not just one trap instead make any and use them for trapping catfish. You need to have some raw material at your disposal before starting to make a trap.

Visit your nearby home improvement store and buy some mesh wire. You may either use a chicken mesh wire having small holes or try some other metal wire mesh that will serve your purpose.

Now, you have to find out how big mesh wire you need. If it is shallow water, then you will not need a very big and large trap. Cut the wire into six pieces and make equal sized squares. Now build a box trap of thing. Use a wire or a strong coil to hold the box trap firmly with each other. The ends of the wire should be given a clean touch up so that it resembles a proper box trap. One thing you should not forget to do is have a cut on one of the squares to allow the trapped catfish to come out. Use a wire cutter to cut 2 slits into the wire to give it a 'plus' shape. After doing that push the wire inward in such a way that the cut opens inside of the trap. Once the catfish has been trapped, this will allow it to wiggle inside but the sharp ends of the opening will not allow the catfish to get out.
